TERA Online – Necromancer Tomb Walkthrough

Necromancer Tomb (or NT for short) is the 4th dungeon we come across in TERA. It is extremely easy compared to the earlier dungeons you may have faced. In fact, you will quickly realize that the normal monsters crawling around this instance are actually tougher than the bosses. The first time I cleared this dungeon was at level 47 in a duo party as Priest and Warrior. This dungeon is aimed at players between levels of 41 to 45 and will reward you with potential Superior grade drops at level 44.

Location

Outside of Arcarum across the bridge immediately to the town’s Eastern exit, you will find the Citadel of Torment. At the very bottom of this overwhelming structure is your instance. Don’t worry, it’s not actually as big as it looks. Your job is to climb up all the way to the sixth floor, make your way to the bottom left room once there, and then slide town the slopes into the basement. Here, continue on until you find the Bloody Depths and reach the bottom center of the map. These locations will be highlighted for you in the images below:

Once inside, the dungeon is fairly linear. There are four bosses you can face, all of which are fairly easy; they deal moderate damage and are tanky. You will be able to steamroll through this dungeon with a full party consisting of a Healer, Lancer and 3 DPS classes. However, note that it is very possible to solo as a Warrior or duo with a Priest/Mystic.

The first boss you will encounter is Trayzadius. He resides in the center of this room full of traps, which will activate and damage you once you begin the fight. Note that he will reset himself back to the center location if he is too far away from his spawn. As he is not really capable of dealing too much damage, it is recommended that you simply fight him around this area. If he begins to attack your healers, simply run to your DPS or tank and have them pull enmity back onto themselves. You should be careful with the spike traps as if you are hit by one, you are likely to be bounced around onto another trap and be hit multiple times. This can sometimes kill you or your party members. Trayzadius swings his axe and attacks with simple melee range attacks. All of his attacks can be easily dodged.

Trayzadius - First Boss

If you were lucky, he may reward you with a Superior item right away. That’s not bad for the first boss since I can never recall finding a Superior item from the previous first bosses. Anyways, if you are following the story quests you will want to take the Southern turn in the next room and destroy the Necromantic Devices. Once you have followed this path and have destroyed all four devices, Dalmanak will spawn in the circular Western-bottom room and you will need to dispose of him. He is an Orisk with the ability to summon one minion at a time. When he does, you will need to take down the minions as they will add up in number over time and they pack quite a decent punch. Sometimes, Dalmanak will run into his own minion and severely damage them or even kill them. That is always interesting to see. Do watch out for his poison as that will be able to deal fairly high damage to your party members.

Necromancer Tomb - Second Boss

The story boss follows next, who will turn into Kaidun once you defeat him. Mutated Kaidun appears to be some sort of Argon/Naga Marauder mix and is located in the Western-center room. His attack pattern is very similar to Naga Mercenary BAMs (he loves to jump around), which should immediately tell you that he is not a difficult boss either but tanky. He does have a few extra attacks such as his laserbeam (Master Spark?) and a cloud of electric discharge which are ranged attacks. However, his attacks are still not difficult to dodge as he is quite slow and provides warning before he fires his shots. Get rid of this thing.

Necromancer Tomb - Third Boss

The final boss you will face is Vedilith, he looks like some sort of Basilisk/Tiger. You are not required to kill him to proceed with the story, but he does offer a good chance of giving you some fat loot. He will summon minions at 70%/50%/30% of HP and these Wraiths will eventually cover up the room in three rings. They cannot move, but they will keep on summoning lightning bolts until they die and severely limit your movement. You should clear some of these out to allow you room to dodge Vedilith’s attacks. Further, Vedilith is capable of dealing some pain with his cleave attack, be sure to watch out for his movements and keep dodging him. Just because you have a Priest in a party of five does not mean you simply rush to kill something without dodging. You are still vulnerable to death even with a Priest in your party.

Necromancer Tomb - Fourth Boss

After you have cleared the instance for your story quest, you will likely return to clean up other quests related to the Necromancer Tomb. You will now have to choice to engage Vedilith/Dalmanak/Mutated Kaidun in the order of your choosing. You do not have to necessarily stick to the order listed above.

See you in the next instance!

More Warfare

Got my first chance to try the Osprey Gunner today via a care package. I was on the 10th or 11th kill or so, may or may not have been able to call in this thing if it wasn’t for the Care Package. It requires 17 kills consecutive kills without dying, and Ii had not yet reached the AC-130. The Osprey Gunner spawns at a rate of 1% within Care Packages, so I was pretty lucky here. I only got about 3 kills with the Osprey before the game came to an end, I have no idea what my team were able to grab from its air drops. The map was “Hardhat.”

Assault Line - 17 Killstreak

Later on, I was placed into an ongoing match where my ally had just picked up an Osprey Gunner from a Care Package. My luck went on as said Osprey flew its course to deliver an Assault Juggernaut Care Package. I grabbed it and got to try the Assault Juggernaut for the first time. (I had received this killstreak before but the game ended as soon as I had grabbed the juggernaut armor)

First piece of +6 Weapon on TERA

As the TERA open beta comes to a close, I was able to upgrade my main staff to +6, the Chaosbane obtained from Malgarios in the Sinestral Manor.

Apparently, somewhere able to upgrade +6 Rare weapons at lv33 although the level cap was lv32. I guess numbers can make things happen sometimes.

TERA Online – Open Beta

Had been previously playing TERA’s Closed Beta, but since that was a wipe test I wasn’t really too much into it. TERA’s Open Beta for pre-order customers just launched yesterday, and with this our characters will not be wiped out. So, I made my characters and off we go for some progress.

Level 1 Character - High Elf Priest

Level 9 - Isle of Dawn

Level 14 - Aron's Camp

First instance raid at Level 22, soon to come!

New File Listing

Heads up for those who are looking for old music files, they can be found at this link.

This will become my depository from now on!

Finally got to use an AC130 – twice!

Well, Village is probably my most hated map, but it sure was awesome for flying bomber planes.

What’s better than an open map, with 2 AC130 care drops in a row? Probably not much.

FFXI – Episode 1

After about a month of grinding and raging, I have finally finished my first armor set for a Scholar.

Being a MMO veteran,I must say FFXI brings the notion of “grinding” to the next level. This game is serious. Square Enix is serious. You will not be given anything easily. Anything you want to achieve will take you at least hours, while most things will take months to years.

Don’t ever think anything is easy on FFXI, although I must also say at the same time that it is a very rewarding experience. I’ve finally had the chance to come face to face with one of the Notorious Monsters I’ve always wanted to face…

This is Eccentric Eve. Why is she eccentric you say? Well, she’s Eve. Enough said.

Oh, if there was anything I learned from facing Eve, when something is about to use something like “Extremely Bad Breath,” you can count on it being exactly that. Our second encounter with Eve saw our entire party being wiped out instantly with one shot of this breath, and somehow I finished Eve with a Luminohelix. Unfortunately, Eve wasn’t feeling very generous and offered us no drops. Well, she’s eccentric alright.

Next step? Let’s work on a Samurai. Having to /anon while being WAR/WHM was pretty fun. At least now I have a WAR sub!

The realm of FFXI is indeed full of rage.

Trolls.

There is a common misconception that trolls are here to ruin your experiences. According to Wikipedia (which is obviously not an academic source etc blahblah), the word “troll refers to ‘In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion. The noun troll may refer to the provocative message itself, as in: “That was an excellent troll you posted”.”

So then, I’m often called a “troll” in a few games that I happen to play. Most of the times, this happens within Starcraft 2. Why exactly is this? I don’t know. Going by the strict definition of the word, I troll equally hard in every game. But here is where one must beg the question: How exactly am I trolling? Just because I decided to kill my own Hatchery at the beginning of a match on a smurf account means I’m trolling? Shouldn’t that instead be simply labelled “losing on purpose?”

Further, just because I pick a hero that’s considered not viable in a game such as League of Legends does not necessarily equate to me trolling. I might actually try harder on Evelyn than I otherwise would have going Anivia. Who knows? People are quick to jump on the gun on using the word “troll” as an acceptable excuse for their lack of skill.

Actually, I’ve probably won more games where I trolled.

Welp, one must ponder deeply.

Starcraft 2 – Mafia

Before listing the various balancing features, my current setup is as follows, discussion on this will follow after:

  • Sheriff (Detects Mafia, Serial Killer, Arsonist, Cultist)
  • Investigator (Does not discover exact roles)
  • Doctor (Knows target is attacked, can prevent Cultist conversion)
  • Adv. Town (No restrictions)
  • Adv. Town
  • Basic Town (Eats babies, Allow Citizens)
  • Random Town (No restrictions)
  • Random Town
  • Random Town
  • Godfather (Immune to detection, Death immunity at night, Cannot be role blocked, Can kill without Mafioso)
  • Adv. Mafia (No restrictions)
  • Random Mafia (No restrictions)
  • Basic Neutral (No restrictions)
  • Advanced Neutral (No restrictions)
  • Random Neutral (No restrictions)

Some considerations:

  • The sheriff is allowed to detect everyone, because all immunities have been fully granted to all evil roles
  • Investigator detecting exact role is imbalanced
  • Doctor preventing conversion is an interesting consideration. This will have to be tested. Doctor cannot heal the Mayor anywho so as far as that is concerned, this feature is used to prevent other Town from being converted into the Cult
  • Jailor is allowed 2 executions. The game begins on a No Lynch Day to allow the Jailor to jail someone immediately
  • Spy fully enabled, PM allowed
  • Vigilante can shoot 3 times
  • Mason replaces Mason Leader
  • Mason Leader has 3 recruits
  • Veteran can protect himself for 2 nights
  • Detectives and Lookouts ignore detection immunity
  • Citizens are allowed to give the Godfather a line of defense from ironically, his own detection immunity. Citizens also enable Mason Leader as a role and makes the Cult more interesting
  • Blackmailed victims can talk during trial
  • All capable Mafia roles will become Mafioso if there are no killing roles left in the Mafia. Special case to consider here is the Disguiser, whom will otherwise be completely useless if he becomes the last Mafia
  • All capable Mafia roles will replace the Godfather upon his death
  • Consigliere does not discover exact role
  • Janitor allowed 3 cleanings. A smart Janitor who knows his own team mates are about to die will cleanse them to prevent the Town from knowing if a Mafia role has truly died
  • The above is countered by the Coroner role, with all perks enabled
  • Serial Killers and Arsonists are very difficult roles to play. To make this more fair, they are allowed immunity and Arsonist kills even if target is healed/immune. However, their targets will know they are doused and the Sheriff can fully detect them all
  • Jester lynch must cause one suicide
  • Executioners are allowed to win regardless if they die, but they get more points for surviving
  • The Witch has all perks enabled, which allows them to cause a self-target, but their target must know that a Witch is controlling them
  • Survivor is given 4 vests
  • Amnesiac can become any role, but it will be revealed to the Town

With this setup, there is a chance to spawn any role within the game and it seems to be the most balanced setup I have produced to date. You have a chance to spawn 2 Serial Killers, an Arsonist with a Serial Killer, possibly mix in a Cultist, and any other neutral including Amnesiac. There is the possibility that a Citizen will spawn thus protecting the identify of the Godfather.

The only thing I do not like is the night immunities. From my experience, having these removed resulted in BETTER games than having them on.

I encourage you to try the above setup.

And a while later…

  • Read up to Murder in Mesopotamia, really quite an interesting little book. Although I solved the entire mystery by page 72…
  • Got my Nova portrait on Starcraft 2! Yay!
  • Crappy work is about to end soon…Who has been as happy as me for the prospect of losing a job? Hell yeah!
  • Composing is hard. I almost find myself struggling to express what I want to express. It’s a most intriguing feeling.
  • Walks by the river are very much so needed still…
  • Revisiting my admiration for Mr. Sherlock Holmes. Watched the Hound of the Baskervilles today, portrayed by Jeremy Brett
  • Next up in Monsieur Poirot’s casebook: Death on the Nile. Heard great things about this one!
  • Seriously, when is Dungeon Defender ever going to be released on the PC? I bought it on my iPhone but I’ll be damned if I could actually play that on a small touch screen.
  • Diablo 3? I don’t think I actually care all that much for this at the moment.
  • A new job? Surely I’ll have to find one.
  • Summer officially ended…sort of. This kind of transition weather between summer and autumn is most definitely my favourite. How I wish the days would last a bit longer like this?
  • Still breathing? Yes.

That’s all for now!
